In June, the politician promised that if he won the upcoming presidential election, he would grant relief to miners and release Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht from prison.

"Trump's stance is a deliberate move to garner support from the cryptocurrency owning population, rather than a sincere belief in the benefits of digital assets. It is likely that under other political circumstances, Trump would have changed his stance. Right now, Trump's main goal is to secure votes, not to protect the crypto industry," explained Hayes.
Hayes is also alarmed that some influential people in the crypto community are supporting Trump's campaign. In June, the politician received donations from the founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, the Winklevoss brothers, and Kraken exchange co-founder Jesse Powell.
Hayes called their actions misguided. He said Trump, being a shrewd politician, will say whatever they want him to say to get votes. However, there are no guarantees that Trump will fulfill his promises regarding cryptocurrencies after his election.

Recently, the BitMEX co-founder suggested that after the launch of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on ether, the U.S. authorities will approve similar financial products tied to the memcoin DOGE.
