The representatives of the Bailiff Service explained their choice by the fact that Coinbase's track record and practices would provide reliable methods of storing and trading cryptocurrency assets.

Coinbase also said on its blog that it has a long history of cooperation with government organizations and law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and other countries.

Today, Coinbase works with every major federal, state and local law enforcement agency in the U.S., as well as international agencies on every continent. Advancing the crypto economy means promoting safe and efficient markets, and these partnerships are critical to our mission.

For example, the U.S. government recently transferred more than 3,940 BTC worth $241 million to Coinbase, which was seized from drug trafficker Banmeet Singh.
However, such close cooperation does not help the crypto exchange to avoid close scrutiny from the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The agency continues to accuse Coinbase of illegal operations with digital assets.
