El Salvador offers Russia to use bitcoin for trade transactions

As of May 2024, the government of El Salvador held about 6,000 bitcoins, 474 of which are derived from volcanic energy mining.

According to Ilyukhin, El Salvador is studying the possibility of joining BRICS. At the same time, the official currency in the country remains the dollar, and all intermediary banks through which El Salvador conducts its transactions are US and European banks.
