66As a result of the victim signing several phishing permissions to interact with her address, the hacker stole $11.1 million. First, the scammer withdrew 3,657 MKR ($8.7 million) and 2.56 million Pendle USDe ($2.4 million) from the MakerDAO delegate’s address. After that, he exchanged 3657 MKR for 2502 ETH ($8.7 million), and 2.56 million Pendle USDe for 689 ETH ($2.41 million).
As soon as this became known, the MKR rate fell by 7%, and then was never able to regain its position. As Scam Sniffer analysts point out, hackers’ attacks are becoming more sophisticated and precise, they exploit any vulnerabilities in security protocols. It is worth noting that users themselves often make mistakes, which lead to the loss of funds from their accounts.
Now experts are trying to find out who may be behind the phishing attack on the MakerDAO delegate, and may offer the scammer a deal to return part of the funds, if, of course, the hacker agrees to it. Let us recall that over the past few weeks, attackers have carried out several large attacks, as a result of which tens of millions of dollars were stolen, as was the case with the Turkish exchange BtcTurk.
