While spot bitcoin ETFs have already been approved in the US, Hong Kong and a few other countries, Japan has yet to make a decision on this financial product. However, as the statement makes clear, SBI Group and Franklin Templeton have no doubt that this will happen.

As regulations regarding digital assets and cryptocurrencies in Japan continue to evolve, the new joint venture will launch the respective products, following the approval of the country's regulatory authorities, the US asset manager said.
In addition, financial giant SBI Group has already stated its ambition to move into the Web3 space.
We are proud to be a fast-growing financial group in Japan, utilizing technology as a key source of growth and promoting various Web3-related businesses.
We look forward to partnering with Franklin Templeton, whose business focuses on digital assets and providing industry-leading digital asset processing technology,” said Yoshitaki Kitao, President and CEO of SBI Holdings.

Franklin Templeton is one of the most prominent issuers of cryptocurrency ETFs. The company recently launched its U.S. spot Ethereum-ETF and is already considering issuing a Solana-based spot ETF.
