69Officials from the two aforementioned agencies believe that the Ministry of Energy's initiative will cause significant harm to the industry, and that companies engaged in mining cryptocurrencies will be subjected to discriminatory pressure.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Antimonopoly Service are confident that critical information infrastructure, including data processing centers (DPCs), may also suffer.
It should be noted that the draft decree, which was proposed by the Ministry of Energy, provides for an increase in tariffs for companies engaged in mining cryptocurrencies on average by 5-10 times.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service pointed out that miners should be removed any restrictions on the use of electrical energy, but only when the territory where they operate ceases to be energy deficient.
For its part, the Ministry of Digitization warned that the criteria for including electricity consumers in the register of mining centers are still imprecise. Officials believe that the register will include too many consumers, including those that have nothing to do with cryptocurrency mining.
In Mincifra proposed to separate mining companies and data centers, creating a special registry for the latter. Otherwise, the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, if adopted, may paralyze the activities not only of mining companies, but also of the state's critical information infrastructure.
