According to the sources of the publication, the decision is due to the bank's interest in digital assets and demand from clients. The bank's clients with at least $1.5 million in capital, "risk tolerance" and a desire to make speculative investments will initially be allowed to trade shares in cryptocurrency funds.

Another source told CNBC that the bank will monitor clients' cryptocurrency holdings to make sure they "don't become overly dependent" on the volatile asset class.
