When Telegram creator Pavel Durov announced the launch of the currency, he warned about Apple and Google's commission of 30% of the transaction, but promised that users could compensate for it by paying with Telegram Stars to advertise their products.

The attackers deliberately distorted his words and began offering customers not to pay commissions, but to purchase currency directly from individuals.

According to F.A.C.C.T., 23 domain names consonant with Telegram and Stars, or Ton and Stars, and several more channels and chatbots in the popular messenger have been registered since May 16 of this year.

Some of them were created in order to conduct resale of cryptocurrency, while others started offering their services to buy coins. Experts strongly recommend not to purchase Telegram Stars from sellers, as such transactions may be false.

Analysts also pointed out that scammers may offer to get the currency via airdrop, but for this customers will have to connect their cryptocurrency wallets, sign a malicious transaction due to which they will lose all their funds.
